Grizzles get back Endangered Species Protection

October 22nd, 2009 by frankie

Yellowstone’s grizzles have had their endangered species protections renewed. WOOT! A judge ruled that when the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service removed Yellowstone’s grizzles from the endangered species in 2007 they violated the law.

According to NRDC, …”the Fish and Wildlife Service failed to consider how the drastic decline in whitebark pine trees, a major food source for grizzlies in the Greater Yellowstone ecosystem, would affect the area’s grizzly population.”

Great news for the bears!
