<p>Sloth Bear Facts: Sloth bears are a bit messy in appearance. They are stocky with long, shabby, black hair, with a white “Y,” “O,” or “U” marking on the chest. They have a long tongue, large lips, a pale muzzle (usually white) and well-developed hook-like claws that enable them to climb trees and dig for termites. They look fairly awkward when walking as they cannot pull their claws like a cat does.</p>

<p>The light color of the rings around the eyes extends down to the throat and chest in a variety of ways, giving each individual bear a unique set of markings. Their coats are thick and usually either black or brown, and rarely with a reddish tinge.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><span class="drop">Y</span>es. Polar Bears do eat eggs. In this time of shrinking sea ice, polar bears have been seen climbing cliffs to eat snow goose and murre eggs. Thus climate change is affecting species other than polar bears.</p>
<p>Sightings have shown polar bears staying for days in an area, wandering from nest to nest, eating all of the eggs of a snow goose colony. This eating of eggs is only part of the story. A hungry polar bear feeds on grass, berries, carrion, fish, rodents and birds.</p>
