Three US zoos have giant pandas

June 29th, 2009 by frankie

There are only 3 zoos in the United States with Giant Pandas, each on long-term loan from China. This arrangement is known as Panda Diplomacy. The long-term loans are usually for 10 or 12 years and the offspring, if there is any, are the property of China.

The 3 US zoos with giant pandas are Zoo Atlanta in Atlanta, Georgia; Smithsonian National Zoological Park in Washington DC and the San Diego Zoo in southern California.

Click on any of those zoo links to find information about the giant pandas in the zoo and if you can to find trip information for visiting them. If you get a chance to visit any, please let me know. I’ll gladly post any photos you take as well.

Bear hugs, Frankie
