ExxonMobil currently has permission to kill polar bears. That right was issued by the Fish and Wildlife Service. The Letter of Authorization gives ExxonMobil Production Co. the right “to ‘take’ polar bears incidental to oil and gas industry exploration activities in the Beaufort Sea and adjacent northern coast of Alaska…”.

You’ll notice they used the word “take” as a euphanism for “kill”. They couldn’t even call it what it is. I guess it made it easier for the people who signed the document if they thought of the polar bears as being “taken” instead of as being “killed”.

Please join me and others in getting ExxonMobil’s permission to kill polar bears revoked. You can help now by signing the petition at Revoke ExxonMobil’s Permission to Kill Polar Bears. And, please, pass this information on to your friends and acquaintances. Let’s let our government know that we want them to put a stop to the senseless “taking” of these beautiful animals.

It’s time we humans learned how to live with the other animals of our world instead of killing them all off whenever they’re in our way. We must find other ways to live our lives. Ways that don’t include killing off other species. Surely we can use our highly developed brains to figure out how to share this beautiful world with the other creatures in it; not simply remove them as if they don’t matter.
